Ellie version 4.3 - Customizable Entity Types

Juha Korpela

More great features for Ellie have just arrived! Ellie version 4.3 has been released, and the update has been automatically applied to all Ellie users. In this blog post, we’ll share what are the new additions, more specifically what are customizable entity types all about.

New feature: customizable entity types

One of the most requested features for Ellie, customizable entity types, has been launched in v4.3. So far, you have been able to assign your conceptual entities to one of Ellie’s default entity types (the different colors, like black for “Master” and blue for “Transaction”). Now you can define your own categorization, with the colors of your choice!

Customizable Entity Type Settings

The settings for managing the entity types are available for the administrators of all Ellie accounts. You can rename, rename, re-color, add new entity types, and change the default types as you like. You can also always return to Ellie’s default settings if you’d like (those are pretty good for a lot of use cases!).

We have also recorded a video explaining how this works – check it out here!

Other improvements

As usual, there are all kinds of minor updates, upgrades, and fixes added here and there. For example, in Logical Models, you’ll see PK attributes in bold and FK attributes in italics, making it easier to read those attribute lists at a glance. Resizing the entities on the logical modeling canvas should also behave a bit nicer now.

We have also fixed some minor graphical glitches and made copywriting improvements to various error messages. You can find the full changelog from our Confluence page here – it might take a little while for our latest changelog to be updated, but it should be there soon!

If you have any questions or comments, we’re always happy to hear about it: just send an email to support@ellie.ai!
