We’re proud to introduce Ellie AI 8.2, a major step forward in making your data modeling experience more expressive, consistent, and intuitive across conceptual, logical, and physical levels. This release brings useful enhancements designed to bridge the gap between design and implementation, giving you more control and clarity where it matters most.

Entity Types Now Across All Model Levels

Ellie AI has always been a leader in conceptual data modeling, and now we’re expanding that power. With version 8.2, Entity Types are fully supported in logical and physical models, too.

You can now:

  • Define and manage distinct entity types at every model level

  • Clearly distinguish between hubs, links, and satellites (for Data Vault) or facts and dimensions (for star schemas)

  • Drive better consistency, governance, and automation across your modeling process

This unlocks deeper alignment between business concepts and technical implementation, making your models more accurate, and far more useful for collaboration, documentation, and downstream generation.

Visual Clarity with Color-Coded Schema Types

Tackling complex architectures? You can now manually set up color coding  for different schema types to help you instantly identify key components:

  • Distinct colors for Data Vault elements: hubs, links, satellites

  • At-a-glance recognition of star schema structures: fact vs. dimension tables

Color is more than just design. It’s a visual accelerator. With better cues, you can navigate complexity faster, collaborate more effectively, and reduce cognitive load.

Custom Glossary Entity Settings for Logical Models

Our customers love the ability to customize metadata and attribute fields in conceptual models. With Ellie AI 8.2, we’re bringing that same flexibility to logical glossary entities:

You can now:

  • Add and configure custom metadata and logical attributes

  • Define field types and allowed values

  • Rearrange the order of fields for clarity and consistency

(Note: this is only available for glossary entities via the entity page.)

This enhancement supports our long-term vision of unifying entity functionality across all modeling levels. You decide where each field is visible (conceptual, logical), and even system fields can be hidden when not relevant.

What this means in practice:

  • Promote a logical entity to a glossary term to unlock additional customization
  • Maintain all field values, including entity types, when converting from conceptual to logical
  • Easily tailor metadata in the glossary entity settings page

Ellie AI 8.2: Built for Modern Enterprise Data Modeling

Ellie AI continues to evolve with the needs of modern data teams. Whether you're designing conceptual models or implementing complex warehouse structures, version 8.2 gives you more precision, more clarity, and more flexibility.

We can’t wait to see how you use these new capabilities to elevate your modeling work. As always, your feedback is at the heart of everything we build.
