What do the overall responsibilities look like in the role?

First of all, you will have ownership of a cross-functional development team. The essence of your role would be to make sure that your team reaches the goals. The philosophy that we believe in, is to always lead from the front, meaning that showing an example, removing obstacles and taking care of your team is the heart of being a team lead. 

In team work, you will be using agile methodologies like Kanban, but if you are more familiar with Scrum, that is also possible. 

In team work our current methodology is Kanban, but it is possible for the team to influence on the working methods and we appreciate testing out different methodologies. 

You breathe and understand the code that you and your team produce. 

Your time will be split into: 

• 25% communication and facilitation of your team
• 25% cross-team communication in our growing organization of now 16 people
• 50% doing hands-on development work

How about the hands-on development work?

The actual development work is done in a technical environment consisting of tools and technologies such as Node.js, React, MaterialUI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Ubuntu and Docker. You would do demanding programming work on both backend & frontend sides.

Ellie’s B2B SaaS products are data product design and data modeling tools aimed to serve the new generation of information architects and data analysts. At the same time, we’re developing a modern, fresh-looking, easy-to-use product that business people love, too. It's essentially an enterprise solution that solves a real-world problem, but what's interesting from a coder's point of view is that you get to build a really great product that potentially has a lot of users and has a fundamental impact on how large organizations utilize data.

You would be part of our highly self-organized, collaborative and growing development organization, consisting of 11 seasoned experts at the moment. We’re working on splitting our team into smaller teams that will have their own area of responsibility inside our SaaS product. You will be guiding your own team consisting of 4-6 people. 

TLDR? Here’s a recap:

• You get to build a really great B2B product that potentially has a lot of users and has a fundamental impact on how large organizations utilize data.
• In this role, you would become a team lead for a team of 4–6 experts. You would take care of your own area of our SaaS product.
• The work is done in a technical environment consisting of tools and technologies such as node.js, React, MaterialUI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Ubuntu and Docker. 
• Our new office is located in Lauttasaari, Helsinki – we work in a hybrid model, and meet face to face a couple of times per week.
• The company has a solid financial situation as we just raised a round of funding and get ready to scale globally. 
• Great communication skills in English are needed in our multicultural and collaborative environment
• In addition to monthly salary (salary range in this role is 5000-6500 EUR), we are also establishing an option program for all the employees in the near future and you’ll also be part of that.
